"Your Fired!"

8 steps to keep you out of hot water...

We have seen the show, we know the drill and we still do it wrong sometimes. As a business owner, you are subject to severe scrutiny, when you terminate an employee for cause.

Having your ducks in a row can be cumbersome and worse yet, can lead to a lawsuit, unless you follow these 8 steps.....

  1. Maintain clear, up-to-date and well-written employee handbooks.
  2. Document employee supervision.
  3. Establish grievance procedures.
  4. Circulate written discrimination and sexual harassment policies.
  5. Establish prudent hiring, performance and termination guidelines.
  6. Understand and comply with the requirements for ADA and FMLA.
  7. Establish coverage with Employment Practices Liability Insurance.
  8. Consult with your insurance advisor to ensure that your business is covered adequately.

As always, feel free to give us a shout to review your Employment Practices Liability needs.
